Create a station

To create a station on the Pandora website:

  1. In the Search tool at the top of your screen enter an artist, song, composer or genre.
  2. Then click the appropriate search result (it may help to filter your results by Station) to go to its "backstage page."
  3. Click Start Station to add the station to your collection.

You can also use the Browse feature on the Pandora website to see content recommendations.

Improve your listening with Pandora Modes

Get more out of each station with Pandora Modes. Each station mode has a different effect:

  • My Station is your main station;
  • Crowd Faves plays only the most popular tracks;
  • Discovery mode surfaces artists who don’t usually play on this particular station.
  • Deep Cuts delve deeper into the discographies of the artists you've Thumbed-Up on your station.
  • Newly Released mode plays the newest releases from the artists featured on your station (if available).
  • Artist Only mode will only play songs from the artist headlining your station (unless you've added variety to your station, in which case it will play tracks from those artists as well).*

*Please note that not all Pandora Modes will be available on all stations.
Due to licensing requirements, Artist Only Mode requires a Pandora Premium subscription or gift.

Add Variety or Edit your station

  • Go to My Collection. (Pandora Premium account holders may want to filter their collection by Stations for an easier view.)
  • Click on the title of the station you'd like to edit to go to its "backstage page."
  • Click the ellipsis to the right of the play button to reveal an additional menu, and select Edit Station.
    • To add or remove variety (station seeds): Scroll down to the Station Created From section.
To add variety, click + Add Variety, enter the artist or track you'd like to add, then click on the (+) sign to add that artist or song to your station. To remove variety, hover over the desired seed and select Delete. Note: you cannot add variety to Genre Stations.

    • To view your thumbed tracks: Scroll down to the Thumb History section of the station's page. By default, this section will show your Thumbed-Up tracks first. If you'd like to see your Thumbs Down, click on the Thumbs Down icon.

    • To delete a Thumbed track: Roll your cursor over the name of the track to reveal a hidden menu (or click the ellipsis if you are a Pandora Premium subscriber). As before, select Delete to remove that thumb from your station.

"I'm tired of this track"

If you are tired of hearing a particular song you can choose to not hear it again for a while by doing either of the following:

  1. Hover your cursor over the album art of the song on the Now Playing page.
  2. Click on the ellipses (three dots).
  3. Select “I'm tired of this track.”

Shuffle

Shuffling your stations provides a more diverse mix of music by randomly playing songs from the stations in your list. It plays a one-song set from a random station that you've included in your mix and then moves on to another song from a different station.

To Shuffle from the Now Playing screen:

  • Free ad-supported or Plus listeners can find the option to shuffle stations above the station list.
  • Pandora Premium listeners can shuffle from the My Collection page.

To Shuffle from the My Collection page:
Go to My Collection, sort the collection by Stations and select Shuffle Stations.

To Shuffle from an Android Device:
Visit the Shuffle section of How to Use on Android Devices.

To Shuffle from an iOS Device:
Visit the Shuffle section of How to Use on iOS Devices.

To switch between Shuffle All and a custom shuffle:
Turn Shuffle on. Click the carat (down arrow) on the Shuffle On icon and choose either Shuffle All or Custom.

To customize your Shuffle:

You can customize the station included in your shuffle selection by:

  • Hovering over the Shuffle On icon which will appear on the Now Playing screen which will reveal a pencil icon.
  • Clicking the pencil icon will bring you to the My Collection page.
  • Check or uncheck each station to modify your shuffle experience, either in the bottom right corner of each stations' album art, or (if you're using A-Z sorting) to the right of the station name.
  • Premium listeners can navigate more easily when customizing the shuffle experience by sorting the stations by Recent (date added), A-Z (alphabetical) or Time Listened using the caret on the far right of your screen.

To exit Shuffle:

Simply select and play an individual station.

Delete a station

  1. Click My Collection.
  2. Hover over the album art of the station you want to delete.
  3. Click the ellipsis (three dots), then select Remove from your collection.

Browse

Use Browse to view new music releases, recommended artists, and station and playlist suggestions picked just for you.

You can find Browse next to My Collection on the home screen.

Sort your collection

Your sorting options will depend on what kind of content you're looking at in your collection. Most content can be sorted A-Z or by Recently Collected (added), but your collected stations can also be sorted by Recently Played and Most Listened.

To sort your stations, go to My Collection and select Stations. Select whether you'd like to sort by Recently Collected, Recently Played, A-Z or Most Listened.

 Sharing

You can share the music you love (songs, stations, albums or playlists) with other listeners. Please visit this page if you want more information about shared stations and how to share content on Pandora.

View Bios and Lyrics

The Backstage area is located directly beneath the album artwork on the Now Playing page. Tap Show More to expand available Artist bios and view features of the track.

For more information about Lyrics on Pandora please check out this page.

Setting your Explicit Content Filter

Setting your Explicit Content filter will restrict Pandora from playing tracks on your stations or displaying ads with explicit language.

However, this will not censor tracks, albums, podcasts or playlists with "E" labels.

To adjust your filter on the web:

  1. Click the icon (initial or picture) in the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings, then Content Settings.
  3. Toggle the Explicit Content switch ON to allow explicit content or OFF to restrict explicit content.
  4. Enter your password to confirm changes.

Please note: while setting your Explicit Content filter on the web will also affect your account on the desktop app or mobile devices, it will not affect in-home devices such as game systems, TVs and Blu-ray players. These devices filter explicit content by default because they are frequently used in family settings.

To find steps to adjust the Explicit Content filter on these devices, visit In the Home / On the Go.

Exit or sign out

To exit Pandora without signing out completely, simply close your browser.

To sign out of your Pandora account altogether, click the icon (initial or picture) in the upper right corner and select Sign Out.

Note: you should always sign out of your Pandora account if you are using a shared or public computer.
