Trouble Streaming Pandora on Android

If you're having technical issues listening to Pandora on your Android device, try the following troubleshooting procedures to see if that solves your issue.

  1. Update the app to ensure you are on the latest version of Pandora.
  2. If you have a battery saver or task manager app, make exceptions for Pandora or try turning them off completely.
  3. Clear data for Pandora in your phone's settings.
    • Press the menu key from the home screen on your device (not Pandora app).
    • Tap Settings.
    • Tap Apps.
    • Tap "Pandora" under the Downloaded tab.
    • Tap Clear data (you may have to tap Storage to see that option).
  4. Uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app will not delete your information or saved stations. That is all still stored on our servers.
  5. Reinstall the app through the Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore.
  6. Make sure the app is installed to the phone's local memory
  7. Try switching between Normal Quality and High Quality audio:
    • Go to the Station list.
    • Tap the menu icon > Settings.
    • Select Advanced, then uncheck "Higher Quality Audio."

Keep in mind, that the steps to find certain settings on Android’s can be different depending on the type of Android phone you have, as well as what Android OS you are running.

Disable Android Battery Optimization

 

Double check that you have Battery Optimization for Pandora disabled in the Android settings.

 

Disable Battery Optimization on Lollipop (Android version 5.0)

 
  1. Go to Settings > Battery > Menu > Battery optimization.
  2. Select All apps from the drop down menu.
  3. Scroll the list of apps until you find Pandora.
  4. Select "Don't optimize."
  5. Select Done.
 

If these steps do not work, here are a few more to try:

  1. Go to Settings and scroll over to More.
  2. Tap Battery and select "Detail" under the App Optimization section.
  3. Find Pandora in the list and tap on it.
  4. Select "Turned off."
 

Disable Battery Optimization on Marshmallow (Android Version 6.0)

 
  1. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Usage > More > Optimize battery usage.
  2. Select All apps from the drop down menu.
  3. Scroll through the list of apps until you find Pandora.
  4. Toggle the battery optimization switch from ON to OFF.
 

If these steps do not work, here are a few more to try:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Battery and select "Detail" under the App Power Saving/App Optimization section.
  3. Find Pandora in the list and tap on it.
  4. Select "Turned off."
