Application Permissions on Android

Last Updated: May 14, 2013 03:38PM PDT

Notes about requested permissions for Pandora on Android:

Internet: this permission allows access to the internet to stream music.

Access Network State: this permission allows access to information about networks.

Access WiFi State: this permission allows access to information about WiFi networks.

Read Contacts & Write Calendar: these permissions enable two features--to share your Pandora stations with a friend via email, and to add an event featured in an ad (like a movie premier) to your calendar. If you decide that you want to share a station, Pandora will allow you to select an email address from your contact list and send an email. If you decide that an ad offers an event you'd like to attend, Pandora will offer to add this event to your calendar. These functions would always be initiated by you.

Wake Lock: this permission allows Pandora to keep the processor from sleeping while music is playing.

Read Phone State: this permission monitors the phone state to pause music during phone calls.

Bluetooth: these permissions make it possible for Pandora to work wirelessly with select partner hardware and software (such as Ford SYNC® AppLink™).

Add System Service: this permission allows Pandora to publish system-level services needed to play music and manage network connections.

Receive Boot Completed: this permission allows Pandora to be notified when the system is booted, to start monitoring for automotive connections.

Write External Storage: this permission allows Pandora to write temporary files to external storage to avoid using up internal storage, which is quite limited on some devices.
