How to use Pandora on iPad

Last Updated: Jan 31, 2013 04:40PM PST

Tap the Pandora app on your iPad to launch Pandora and start listening.

Signing in with an existing Pandora account:
Tap 'I have a Pandora account,' then enter the email address and password you used to register with Pandora. (If you do not know your password, tap 'I forgot my password.' You will receive a password-reset email to your registered Pandora email address.)

Signing in without an existing Pandora account:
Tap 'I am new to Pandora.' Fill in all required fields, check acknowledgment of our terms of service, and tap 'Create Account Now.'

Creating a new station, or selecting a different Pandora station to listen to:
Tap the back arrow in the upper left of the Now Playing screen. Tap Create Station, then enter an Artist, Song or Composer. To choose a different station you've already created, just tap its name from the list on the left.

Deleting a station:
Swipe your finger across the station name, and tap the red Delete button that appears.

Adjusting the volume:
Pandora's volume is linked to the main iPad volume. Use the hardware volume buttons on the right-hand edge of the iPad to control the volume on Pandora.

Running Pandora in the background:
While Pandora is playing, click the Home button to return to the desktop and select another app. Pandora will continue to play music in the background.

Pausing the music or skipping a song while Pandora is running in the background:
Double-click the Home button, and a list of apps running in the background will appear along the bottom edge of the screen. Swipe to the right, and you will see the iOS4 audio controls, along with the Pandora icon. The pause button in the center will pause Pandora.

Quit Pandora once it is running in the background:
Double-tap the home button, and find Pandora in the list of backgrounded apps that will appear along the bottom edge of the screen. Hold your finger on the Pandora icon until a red circle with an minus sign appears. Tap the minus sign to quit the Pandora app entirely.

Bookmarking a song or artist, buying a song or album from iTunes:
Tap the Menu button just to the right of the current song information, toward the right-hand edge of the screen, and select the option you wish.

Changing the audio quality:
Tap Settings on the bottom of the screen. You can switch Higher quality audio to On. We recommend you only do this when you have a strong connection to your cellular-data network. WiFi connections automatically support higher quality audio.

Signing out of Pandora to use a different account:
Tap Settings on the bottom of the screen. Then tap Sign out , then confirm.

You should always sign out of Pandora before you sell, return or loan your iPad to anyone, as wiping the iPad or changing your Pandora password may not break the association between your account and that device.

Uninstalling Pandora:
Hold down the Pandora icon on the iPad desktop until all the icons start wiggling. Tap the x that appears over the Pandora icon.
